This past weekend, my husband was home, while I worked a wedding. Now, that doesn’t sound unusual, other than the fact that he is a wedding DJ – so he is often out later than I am on most Saturday nights.
So this past Saturday, I came home, and started my post-wedding routine…when I hear him chuckling at me…
I had forgotten he’s seldom here when I get home, and needless to say he got a laugh out of me soaking my feet in the bathtub with ice cold water, in my comfy PJs, guzzling 2 litres of water and downloading all my photos from my camera and video recorder.
I was on a mission, and I wasn’t going to bed until I had done everything I usually do…
So for this Talk Tuesday – what does your post wedding routine entail?? What do you ‘have’ to do after each wedding when you finally get home…comment below!

Secrets of a Wedding Planner

First things first, I take off my shoes, put them up and have a glass of wine. I have a few moments to my self of quiet and reflect on the day. After that’s done, I download my photo’s and ethier jump in the shower or bath and off to bed.
The next day I put together some notes while it’s still fresh in my mind. At weddings I take some rough notes, what time vendors arrives, who did what?,highlights and all that good stuff. The next day I put it all together in a document and add it to my client file. So if my client’s are interested in any behind the scenes items on there wedding day, I have a quick reference sheet for them if needed. I then usually scan through the photo’s I took and downloaded the night before. It’s a crazy ruotine however I find it works for me

Great to see what goes on “behind the scenes” with a wedding planner. I know first hand how tiring….but rewarding it can be.
I hate to say it, but the first thing I do is stop at the drive-thru and grab something to eat on the way home. As soon as I get home, the shoes come off, the PJs go on and then I tuck into whatever I’ve picked up. Two things every night has in common – sore feet and a craving for greasy carbs. Once that’s done, I download my photos and then lock my office until Monday morning.
Well, I have only been an assistant so far and have not been a lead planner yet. I probably get home a little earlier than most of you. However, I have the same issue of sore feet! I like to put my feet up, have something to eat and then I grab my notebook.
.
In the book, I record the couple’s name, what company I worked for and how many people, and where the wedding was held. I usually write down the highlights of the wedding, special touches, neat ideas…that sort of thing. Then I might write down something I learned from the wedding planner…maybe it was the way she did something that really worked well, or a tip she gave me. I might write down something specific to the venue that I want to remember. Hopefully all the information I gather will be used for future reference as a lead coordinator
What I do is leave “everything” in the car, drop my emergency kit in my office, and head straight to bed. IF my husband wakes up (and he usually does) he says “well, how was it?” and for the next 20 minutes I non-stop recount the day until he is snoring again. What I would like to do is have a live-in masseuse attend to my sore legs and feet until I fall asleep. Someday perhaps!
I am usually on my third pair of shoes by the end of the night. I have heels for the church and depending on if the reception is indoor or outdoor I change into something a little less formal. Then for tear down its tennis shoes or sketchers. When I get home I put the bouquet in the garage fridge, Grab some ice cream and take my husband of piece of wedding cake. He eats while I am in the shower. Then I’m in bed and he gives me a foot rub. If its after 1:00 am he usually doesn’t wait up for me. So we have the cake for breakfast. The next day I unpack, and tie up loose ends.
Upload the images, guzzle water and soak my poor feet. If I’ve been going non-stop in the heat a shower may also be involved here!
